Ellen Bartfeld's glass bowls are handcrafted, one-of-a-kind pieces. She creates them by slumping glass into various shapes in the kiln, edging them with copper foil and lead-free solder, then embellishing them with decorative items. Ellen fires images into some of the bowls, using gold or platinum luster, and further enhances her creations with charms and images from nature: leaves, flowers, dragonflies, hummingbirds, goldfish, and turtles. She sometimes uses elements from Asian design: Chinese letters for love and friendship and Buddha charms.
Ellen adds beads of infinite variety to adorn her bowls, alone or in combination with charms and images. She also developed a beautiful "jewel on glass" style by decorating her dishes with vintage jewelry.
These bowls look like gifts from the sea and are the perfect thing to put on your vanity, offering spot-on storage for pearl and diamond earrings and rings.
While I only carry a few of her bowls at one time, I have new designs coming shortly.
